In a few days we came back to town; and his excellency, considering the bad character he had in the academy, would not go with me himself, but recommended me to a friend of his, to be me company thither. My lord was pleased to represent me as a great admirer of projects, and a person of much curiosity and easy belief; which, indeed, was not without truth; for I had myself been a sort of projector in my younger days. SYNOPSIS Gulliver’s stay at Laputa was causing boredom to him as the people lacked interest in every other thing except in Mathematics and Music. He liked interacting with one man in the court who was considered to be foolish by the people there as he had no ear for music. With the help of the courtiers Gulliver sent a petition to the monarch seeking permission to take leave which the king granted without any delay. Gulliver was sent without any delay. Gulliver was sent with a present worth two hundred pounds and a letter of recommendation to Munodi, the great lord of Lagado.The next day Gulliver was accompanied by Munodi on his chariot to have a look of the city around. To Gulliver’s surprise the city seemed ruined with its people miserable and unhappy. The next day Munodi took Gulliver to his country’s pasture a lush green estate. Munodi told Gulliver about some of the people who visited Laputa and came back with great knowledge of mathematics and art. Later they started an academy to bring such change which could improve the lives of the people. But even after forty years of their visit they couldn’t do anything positive for the growth of people there.
